Lily Alvin used to be the kind of girl you could take home to mom and dad. She used to sing her dairy entries into an old tape recorder. She used to pine over boys who were out of her league, and bake cookies in the shapes of cute little animals. Lily Alvin used to be human.

Bitten by a vampire on a date, Lily is forced to live in a world where her rules are dramatically altered. Her body begins to change and a terrible hunger grows daily inside her. With very few friends and her parents who live in Hawaii, Lily seems to be alone with her new found vampirism…until she remembers Mortis. An old high school classmate of hers, Mortis was the only goth kid in school. He was picked on and pushed around more than even she was. If he didn’t know a thing or two about being a vampire then no one would. But, Mortis is now Pat, and not so sure he wants to revisit that character from his past.

Lucky for Lily, there’s another vampire in town who’s taken a great interest in her. A mysterious man who is centuries old. A mentor and father figure. Doctor Spector enters her new life and helps guide her, teaching her the tricks of living as a vampire. Lily is grateful to learn how to use her powers but refuses to give in to the number one rule all vampires must follow or starve. Rule number one: Humans are nothing more than food.

The struggle to keep her humanity in a body that no longer wants it will prove difficult. But with a little positive thinking and sunshine (not literal sunshine of course), and the help of her new friends, Lily will triumph…
